Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 (OCT 13/FRI): —–/LIMA | INC: –

Arrival in Lima, meet and greet at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Lima.

* Please take note that check-in at hotels in Lima is at 15.00hrs, therefore in case of early arrivals, passengers should wait at the lobby until check-in time, otherwise book the room a day earlier.

 

DAY 2 (OCT 14/SAT): LIMA | INC: B/-/-

In the morning, we will have exclusive and intense excursion to the historical city center to tour the architectural relics that are part of the World’s Cultural Heritage. Our starting point is Santo Domingo Convent, along which corridors San Martin de Porres and San Rosa de Lima used to walk around in the 17th century, and where their remains rest today. Afterwards, we will walk to Casa Aliaga to disclose the secrets of this traditional family with 17 generations. We will continue our visit to the Cathedral, a jewel of religious art and part of the history of Lima, and then to San Francisco Convent, monumental legacy of the colonial times and visit the catabombs.

 

In the afternoon, we will have a tour through Lima’s streets and plazas. Starting at “Parque del Amor” in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, then we have “Parque el Faro” which is the best place to watch the famous paragliders of Miraflores, then “Parque Raimondi” with its huge green areas inviting for a break and of course the “Skate Park”, on the way to the center of Lima, we have the “Parque Central and Kennedy”, these two parks unite to a big one in the heart of Miraflores where the Church of Virgen Milagrosa is located. Finally, we will end up with a stroll through the bohemian district of Barranco, a traditional meeting point for artists and writers, which is characterized by concentrate pubs, discos and peñas Creoles; here, we walk to the famous Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs), immortalized in a famous song of the songwriter Chabuca Granda.

Once finished here, transfer to Huaca Pucllana for a short visit at night, an administrative and ceremonial center, there’s something different about being able to visit an archaeological site under the cover of night, visually separated it from the city which has grown up around it. It provides an evocative atmosphere in which to absorb the guide’s stories about the way of life of the cultures which used this site, their beliefs and rituals.

Afterwards, have a delicious dinner at the restaurant of the same name.

DAY 3 (OCT 15/SUN): LIMA/CUSCO/SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/L/-

Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. Upon arriving in Cusco, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives, who will assist you and give you a short briefing about the rest of your stay.

* We suggest booking a flight arriving in Cusco, no later than 09:30hrs.

As you begin the journey toward Valle Sagrado (Sacred Valley), you will enjoy the beauty of the Andean landscape along the way. Brief stop to visit Awanakancha, small complex to admire Andean camelids such as alpacas and llamas and learn from local inhabitants about traditional dyeing and knitting techniques. Later we will explore the Pisac Market  with enough free time to go around and buy handcrafts and if you feel like tasting something traditional, stop by the wood ovens for a delicious empanada or a piece of bread. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, our tour continues to Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures.

DAY 4 (OCT 16/MON): SACRED VALLEY | INC: B/L/-

Let’s tour the most remote sites in the Sacred Valley. We will start our excursion in Chinchero, where we will be able to appreciate the beauty of the town and archaeological site; and we will also have the opportunity to participate in a brief exhibition of traditional textiles, the distinctive feature of this town, famous for the beauty and high quality of its textiles and ancestral dyeing techniques. We will then continue to Moray, where the view is awesome due to the colossal concentric terraces simulating a huge amphitheater. The purpose of it: to recreate 20 different types of microclimates, a measure that guaranteed the agricultural production of the empire. After that, we will go to Maras, the famous and millenary salt mines from colonial times. The contrast of the white wells and the green valley is awesome and a must for a spectacular snapshot of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will have lunch in a local restaurant before going back to the hotel.

DAY 5 (OCT 17/TUE): SACRED VALLEY/MACHU PICCHU | INC: B/-/D

This morning, pick-up from your hotel to take you to Ollantaytambo station to board train to Machu Picchu. A train trip away to see one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. We arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our staff will assist us on boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon.  The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After a guided visit, back to the town or stay more time in the citadel.

DAY 6 (OCT 18/WED): MACHU PICCHU | INC: B/-/D

Second day in Machu Picchu by clients own (guided tour, entrance fees or shuttle bus tickets to return to the citadel are NOT included this day).

*Please note the hotel have included some excursions you can take such as: Birdwatching, nature walk, orchid trail, tea plantation, twilight walk and native farm.

Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel in Aguas Calientes.

 

DAY 7 (OCT 19/THU): MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO | INC: B/-/-

Second day in Machu Picchu by clients own (guided tour, entrance fees or shuttle bus tickets to return to the citadel are NOT included this day).

*Please note the hotel have included some excursions you can take such as: Birdwatching, nature walk, orchid trail, tea plantation, twilight walk and native farm.

At the arranged time, we will return to Cusco by train and will be transferred to the hotel.

DAY 8 (OCT 20/FRI): CUSCO | INC: B/-/-

Morning at leisure.

In the afternoon, we will climb up the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman, and start our excursion visiting the fortress with the same name, a beautiful place that radiates peace and quiet, where we will be able to admire the huge rocks measuring up to 4 meters high that were used in its construction. We will then head for Q’enqo, and ancient temple of the Puma, where we will be able to appreciate an altar for sacrifices in the inner part of a huge rock, and then Tambomachay, sacred fountains of life and health. On the way we will have a panoramic view from Puca Pucara, a watchtower that controlled the entrance to the city. After that we will visit the Temple of the Sun “The Korikancha”, on top of which the Saint Dominique Convent was built. A legend tells that his temple was entirely lined in gold sheets that marveled the Conquistadors upon their arrival. Finally, we will go to the Main Square and will visit the Cathedral that reassures invaluable colonial paintings and other works of art such as the Cross that arrived with the first conquerors.

DAY 9 (OCT 21/SAT): CUSCO/PUNO | INC: B/L/-

Departure on a tour bus to Puno. On the way we’ll stop to visit the attractions this beautiful route has to offer.  The first stop: Andahuaylillas for a visit to its beautiful chapel, then its Racchi, Temple of the Wiracocha god where the walls and narrow streets stand out. Then it’s lunch time and the opportunity to see the view at La Raya, natural border between Cusco and Puno. Before our final destination we will visit the in site Pucara Museum and a chance to get one of the local classic bull shaped ceramics. We will arrive in Puno at the end of the afternoon.

DAY 10 (OCT 22/SUN): PUNO/LAKE TITICACA/PUNO | INC: B/L/-

A full day tour to explore Lake Titicaca. First we will visit the Uros, the friendly inhabitants of these handmade islands made of totora reeds. Then it’s off to Taquile Island, a place in which the settlers still maintain their ancestral traditions and colorful typical clothes. A great opportunity to explore the island and get the best view of the lake. A typical lunch is provided in the island. Return to the city in the afternoon.

At the arranged time we will go to the airport to board the departing flight.
